The double disappearance
When browsing through the 4th round games of the 2015 Tatal Steel tournament I noticed a funny occurrence in one game in the B-group. Local Dutch GM David Klein was playing against Salem A.R. Saleh from the U.A.E. Saleh is by far the strongest player from the U.A.E. and led their team at the recent Olympiad in Tromso. He has been coached recently by Ivan Sokolov who has been to Iceland many times and I’ve shared laughs, drinks and meals several times with Ivan who is both a very strong player and a good chess friend.
Anyway… the idea was for this to be a ‘Chess Curiosity’ entry but this is turning into a blog post about myself so lets just stick it both ways 😉
